Durban Street holds a special place in my heart, I mean I started there. I remember the first time I visited Durban, it was an old decapitated house and I was just starting out, it looked so perfect because I saw the potential. Durban has served its purpose, 8 years with many wins and some losses but leaving is extremely bittersweet because it feels like taking off the crutches, it’s time to establish the brand name and go big with Ciar, your girl is moving to a big girl store. lol, young Kiki would be so proud 🙂
Finding this new space was an extremely difficult find, I was searching for 4months just to end up a street away from Durban and I absolutely love the space, from the floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing natural light, to the space, such a breath of fresh air.
It is an exciting new project and one thing is sure, I love the fact that Walsh Blanc and I are working on this project together which means I do not have to deal with the details, i don’t have to chase down the electrician or carpenter, if you’ve worked on any project you understand the struggle 🙂 artisans are a nightmare to work with but Walsh Blanc does it all.
So I had 3 consultations where we discussed the functionality of the space and a color scheme, I really wanted to create a signature store look that could be replicated in our other stores and that matched our newly opened HQ which they also did.
My goal was I didn’t want it to look like the average store, I wanted an international feel; clean lines, warehouse rustic feel, like the stores I’ve seen all over the world. I definitely trust Walsh Blanc on this and I’m sure they will deliver!!
Well after 3days of consultations, Walsh Blanc banned me from the site which I secretly loved, and told me the store would be done in 14 days!! 14days!!!
Stay tuned for the big reveal!!
